The evolution of the t-shirt is now well known and its rise was rapid due the helping hand of the Navy which started the avalanche by the issue of a collarless, short sleeved ‘T’ shaped underwear for its sailors. When Hollywood stepped in, with its industry icons like Marlon Brando and James Dean sporting them, the popularity of these shirts shot up like skyscrapers and every one just had to wear them. They were considered cool! Technological advances in the dress material and in printing gave a fillip to the popularity of the t-shirt.
